Unmounted Spherical Roller Bearing Units
BK Industrial Solutions supplies OEMs and repair shops with the top brands of unmounted roller bearing sections. Spherical roller bearings provide tolerance to heavy loads, even with misalignment or shaft deflection. Spherical roller bearings adapt well to axial thrusting in either direction and are also tolerant of heavy shock loads. The name “spherical bearing” is due to the spherical shape of the outer ring raceway. This geometry allows the inner ring to tilt slightly within the outer ring, without significant loss of useful bearing life, an effect which provides the tolerance to misalignment in the protected equipment. Spherical roller bearings are unequalled in their capacity for high loads and their tolerance to shock loads, but have limited speed capabilities.

Koyo Spherical Bearings
Unmounted Spherical Roller Bearing Units
Spherical roller bearings feature a large load rating capacity and are self-aligning. These qualities make them suitable for low- to medium- speed applications which involve heavy normal loading, or impact loading. They come with tapered or cylindrical bores and can be supplied with adapter assemblies and withdrawal sleeves. Bearings with a tapered bore can be fit and removed easily using a withdrawal sleeve or adapter assembly. Spherical roller bearings are available as double-row, combination radial and axial load bearings. The cage of a spherical bearing provides tight dimensional tolerance. Spherical roller bearings may have twice the useful life of conventional bearings. Most spherical roller bearings are made of low-carbon steels or alloy steels, and chrome-plated units are also available. Some applications require the use of case-hardened or through-hardened, high-carbon, bearing-quality steel.

Nachi Spherical Bearings
Unmounted Spherical Roller Bearing Units
Nachi double-row spherical roller bearings are available in bore sizes from 25mm to over 1000mm. The raceways in the outer ring of these bearings are engineered with a spherical surface whose center is the same as the bearing center. Nachi spherical roller bearings have a modified line contact between the rollers and raceways, to enable extreme radial and impact-loads without failure. This bearing type is self-aligning and capable to carry a moderately-high level of axial thrust in either direction. Spherical bearings are used extensively for large machines where shaft deflection may occur. Spherical roller bearings are used for rolling machines, paper mills, shaker screens, rolling stock and other industrial rotating equipment. The mounting and dismounting of spherical roller bearings is made possible by the use of tapered-bore bearings and tapered journals, or may be accomplished with adapters or withdrawal sleeves. Internal clearance can be precisely set using a tapered bore bearing. Pressed steel cages are used for small bore bearings and machined, high strength mild-steel or brass cages are used for bearings with larger bores.
